How to Visit
To protect this special place and preserve its intimacy, The Merwin Conservancy is only open to the public through scheduled visits, including Open Garden Days, Volunteer Days, and a limited number of experiences for donors. You can learn more about these opportunities below.
We get hundreds of requests a year for visits to the garden. While we wish we could accommodate them all, we are a very small team with limited capacity. Our priorities are to respect the land and the community we are part of. We continue to work toward expanding our programming in sustainable ways that honor our role as stewards of this place. We invite you to support us in reaching this goal.

School & Community Groups

We are currently building our capacity to welcome groups to the garden and plan to offer more regular opportunities starting in late 2025.
When we are able, we are delighted to have educational groups visit the garden. Fill out our inquiry form, and a staff person will be in touch.
Open Garden Days
We typically offer Open Garden Days twice a month. These intimate guided experiences, led by Conservancy staff, include a hike into the Peʻahi Stream valley, informal ethnohistorical and botanical conversation, poetry readings, and reflection.
We announce our Open Garden Days through our newsletter and website. Sign up here to hear about these programs as soon registration opens.

Volunteers

Garden volunteers enjoy time among the palms while helping to preserve this special place.
We offer opportunities to volunteer at least once a month. Recently, our volunteers have been working to help mitigate invasive species, clear trails, remove debris, and help with fence repairs.
Fill out our inquiry form, and a staff person will be in touch as opportunities arise.

Donor Events
We offer special opportunities for our donors to spend time in the garden.
In 2025, we will host special Garden Days for our donors supporting us at the $500 level and above. We invite you to join us in our stewardship of this land and its unfolding story.

Private Visits

We are able to host a very limited number of bespoke visits for individuals or groups wishing to visit the garden in exchange for a donation in support of The Merwin Conservancy’s work.
We invite you to fill out our inquiry form below and we will be in touch with more information about offerings and availability.
