Joy Harjo & Indigenous Pacific Islander Poets in The Green Room

The Green Room LIVE – an online version of our beloved Green Room arts and ecology series – was envisioned as a response to the Covid-19 crisis. Our first in a series of three virtual readings held in Spring 2021, this event was held in celebration of National Poetry Month hosted by U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, editor of native nation anthology When the Light of the World Was Subdued, Our Songs Came Through (W.W. Norton, 2020). Participating poets – all who are featured in the anthology – included ʻĪmaikalani Kalahele, Dan Talaupapa McMullin, Mahealani Perez-Wendt, Brandy Nālani McDougall, Craig Santos Perez, Lehua M. Taitano, and No‘u Revilla. 

The Green Room LIVE Spring 2021 series was made possible thanks to The Merwin Conservancy’s Green Room Patrons and the Atherton Family Foundation. This series also included a partnership with da Shop: books + curiosities in Honolulu.
