Naomi Shihab Nye in The Green Room

Friday, September 26, 2014 at Maui Arts & Cultural Center, McCoy Studio Theater

The Green Room presented award-winning Palestinian-American poet, writer and educator, Naomi Shihab Nye, for a spirited and unabashedly authentic evening. Her talk, “Place,” explored personal connection with place and was loosely based on her book, Transfer. She also reflected on the work of Maui’s own Poet Laureate, W.S. Merwin, with whom she has had a decades long relationship, and her 40 years as a “wandering poet,” teaching, writing and spreading peace.

The Green Room was generously sponsored by FIM Group.
