Words and wishes amend the soil
In December 2021, several people made gifts in honor of family members or friends, and drafted short messages to their loved ones. We wrote these out on the old envelopes that W.S. Merwin saved as scrap paper. In the palm garden, where William once amended the soil with his own composted correspondence, we tucked the notes in among fallen fronds.
