In celebration of Poetry Month, Earth Day, and in memory of W.S. Merwin’s prolific and profound career, we are offering the book The Essential W.S. Merwin as a *special gift to donors who generously contribute $100 or more before midnight on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019. All proceeds support the programs that express The Merwin Conservancy’s mission: to inspire innovation in the arts and sciences by advancing the ideas of W.S. Merwin – his life, work, house and palm forest – as fearless and graceful examples of the power of imagination and renewal.
The Essential W.S. Merwin (Copper Canyon Press, 2017) is a 200-page volume encompassing Merwin’s entire six-decade career as a writer of poetry, prose, and translation.
Publisher Copper Canyon Press says the book “traces a poetic legacy that has changed the landscape of American letters”. The Washington Post says The Essential W.S. Merwin “beautifully demonstrates why Merwin has been one of America’s most decorated and important poets for more than 60 years.”
Including such beloved poems as “Rain Light,” “Thanks,” “Berryman,” and “Place”–and many more–The Essential W.S. Merwin is the ultimate addition to your personal poetry library, or the perfect gift to a friend or family member that is new to Merwin’s work. It also includes the very last poem he wrote, “Wish,” which was first published in this volume.
With your gift, you can help The Merwin Conservancy ensure that W.S. and Paula Merwin’s vision finds it’s fullest expression.
Thank you for your support.
