Tracy K. Smith in The Green Room [VIDEO]

February 9, 2018 By Merwin Conservancy

On Friday, February 9th, 2018, The Merwin Conservancy hosted Pulitzer Prize winner and U.S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith in The Green Room. This event was held in the McCoy Studio Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, with an opening introduction and poetry performance by Hawai‘i’s Poet Laureate, Kealoha.

In this excerpt, Tracy introduces and reads her poem, “Wade in the Water,” from her poetry collection of the same name.

The 2018 series of Green Room was made possible by FIM Group, Atherton Family Foundation, Casa des Flores, and Halekulani. Special thanks to Blue Flower Arts and Tracy K. Smith for supporting The Merwin Conservancy through their participation.

Filmed by Darren Yamamoto Films for Berktech Solutions with support from the Maui Arts & Cultural Center technical crew. Edited by Sara Tekula at The Merwin Conservancy.
