The “Garden of Verses” Program Guide

October 19, 2020 By Sara Tekula

Many have inquired about a particular poem title from our Garden of Verses broadcast, so to serve as an easy reference, we’ve created a program guide.

Below is a listing off all of the readings, and the associated time codes in the recorded broadcast. You may click on each poem’s title to read the poem on our blog:

  • 00:00:41 – “Anniversary on the Island,” read by W.S. Merwin (audio recording)
  • 00:10:04 – An excerpt from The Folding Cliffs, Page 49, read by Pualani Kanaka‘ole Kanahele
  • 00:13:55 – “The Morning,” read by Edward Hirsch
  • 00:16:30 – “To the New Year,” read by Kealoha
  • 00:18:56 – “Touching the Tree,” read by Carrie Fountain
  • 00:22:49 – “To Paula in Late Spring,” read by Matthew Carlos Schwartz
  • 00:29:10 – “Lunar Landscape,” read by Cathy Song
  • 00:32:00 – “Variation on a Theme,” read by Howard Norman
  • 00:35:36 – “Cold Spring Morning” and “Near Field,” read by Naomi Shihab Nye
  • 00:39:38 – An excerpt from The Folding Cliffs, Pages 281 and 282, read by Elizabeth Kapu‘uwailani Lindsey Crowley
  • 00:47:06 – “When You Go Away,” read by Roshi Joan Halifax
