Today, The Merwin Conservancy’s founder W.S. Merwin, along with his longtime editor Michael Wiegers, released The Essential W.S. Merwin, a volume encompassing Merwin’s seven-decade career as a writer of poetry, prose, and translation. W.S. Merwin’s publisher, Copper Canyon Press, says the book “traces a poetic legacy that has changed the landscape of American letters”. The Washington Post says The Essential W.S. Merwin “beautifully demonstrates why Merwin has been one of America’s most decorated and important poets for more than 60 years.”
In celebration of the release of The Essential W.S. Merwin, for the next week, we are offering a special gift to donors who generously contribute $100 or more between now and midnight on Monday, September 4th to support The Merwin Conservancy’s efforts to preserve and promote the legacy of W.S. Merwin. With your generous gift, you can help bring Merwin’s values and ideals – those illustrated in his works of poetry and in his restorative planting work in his renowned palm forest garden – into the broader community for generations to come.
UPDATE: This promotion expired at midnight on Monday, Sept 4th. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
