Ptychosperma sp. Woto Boho
Native to the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, the Ptychosperma sp Woto Boho is an attractive, single-trunked palm with caryotoid (bat/fish-tail shaped) leaflets, and whose new leaves are colored a brilliant red.
Like the other Ptychosperma, this palm has pendulous seed branches, meaning they hang downward. Pictured above, you see the inflorescence currently appearing on the one specimen currently growing in the Merwin Palm Forest.
A smaller palm, many consider it to be the most attractive of all Ptychosperma. It also happens to be the Merwin Palm Collection manager Olin Erickson’s current favorite.
