Stefan Schaefer and his crew for the W.S. Merwin documentary “Even Though The Whole World Is Burning” have recently returned from France, where they were filming with William and Paula for a week at their farmhouse in France. While there, they conducted interviews with William about the importance of the French countryside to his work and relationship with the land.
Stefan reports: “He showed us his gardens, walked us along ancient footpaths flanked by fields of grain and grazing sheep, shared stories of the characters and animals he knew and loved. We also spent a day hiking up and around the ruins of Chateau de Ventadour, where he shared his knowledge of the troubadour tradition. We have many hours of wonderful footage – now demanding our time and attention in the editing suite!”
